Lafferty's Wake
By Susan Turlish
Directed by Leeni Mitchell,
Elicia Russell & Irene Morse

October 31, November 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, & 15, 2008

Charlie Lafferty is being waked in grand style in his home-away-from-home, Rory's Pub. The audience joins in as family and friends celebrate the life and times of ramblin', gamblin' Lafferty with old Irish songs, jigs and a little weepin' and wailin'. Come and sing along with such old favorites as "Molly Malone" and "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling." Sure, it'll "steal your heart away."

The Weir
By Conor McPherson
Directed by Chris Mangels

January 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23 & 24, 2009

Four lonely chums huddle over pints and whiskeys, in an Irish home-pub, against the gale ablowin’ outside. Each of the men breaks out a dusty, old ghost story to impress a doe-eyed lass, a new resident in their village. The Visalia Players are proud to present the Central California premier of this play, hailed by critics as "gentle, soft-spoken, delicately crafted - a modern masterpiece."

This play contains adult language!

Cemetery Club
By Ivan Menchell
Directed by Donny Graham

   February 27, 28, March 1, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13 & 14, 2009

Three Jewish widows meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands' graves. Ida is sweet-tempered and ready to begin a new life; Lucille is feisty, a girl who just wants to have fun;
Doris is priggish and judgmental, especially when Sam the butcher shows up.  Each must deal with her own grief and the humorous, poignant possibility that life goes on.

Play On!
By Rick Abbot
Directed by Louis Emery

April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 30, May 1 & 2, 2009

A theatre group is trying desperately to put on a play in spite of maddening interference from the haughty authoress who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show; Act II is a near-disastrous dress rehearsal and Act III is the actual performance. You can be sure that whatever can go wrong, will and that there will be a madcap surprise near the end.

On Borrowed Time

By Paul Osborn
Directed by Jack Patiño

June 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19 & 20, 2009

This is a story of the role death plays in life and how we cannot live without its presence. Young, orphaned Pud is left in the care of his grandparents. He and cantankerous Gramps become inseparable friends until the Angel of Death comes to call. Through clever trickery, Gramps manages to confine Death to the top of an old apple tree but for how long?
